Ceramic Flat Irons

You have mostly like heard that when buying a flat iron to look for a ceramic flat iron. While this is true, it is important to know that there is a little more to it than that.

When looking at hairstyling irons you want to make sure that the ceramic plates on the iron are not coated but either 'pure' ceramic or 'solid' ceramic plates. Coated ceramic plates can end up peeling and chipping in time and with heavy use and in return will cause damage to your hair by pulling and breaking it. Another feature you want to look for in a ceramic flat iron is tourmaline. When you combine both ceramic and tourmaline you get far infrared heat. This type of heating works to heat your hair from the inside out risking less damage to your hair as well as provide much faster styling.

The benefits of ceramic alone include even heat distribution, frizz free and smooth hair, as ceramic works to seal the hairs cuticle, as well as ceramic will add shine to your hair making it look healthier.

Tourmaline works to produce negative ions and when you combine the tourmaline with ceramic you get about 6 times more negative ions than you would from a ceramic flat iron without tourmaline. Negative ions are beneficial in that they work to seal in your hairs natural moisture which helps to protect your hair from heat damage and keep hair color from fading. Negative ions also help aid in fighting frizz and smoothing the hair for shinier, softer hair.

So, when you go shopping for that new hairstyling iron be sure to look for a ceramic flat iron which features solid plates and tourmaline and you will have yourself one great flat iron.
